Welcome
Hi, I’m Jo, a Sussex based qualified Level 5 Specialist Teacher for children with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) and a mum of three wonderful neurodiverse children. I've faced countless obstacles and sought help from more professionals than I ever expected, yet I've also found solace and humour in the simplest moments. My children have taught me to look beyond the world as we know it and to embrace their unique perspective.
My eldest, now 21, was diagnosed with Dyslexia at 11 and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) at 13. He struggled in mainstream school but thrived at a specialist Dyslexia school and later pursued A-levels through a personalised learning programme. Now, he’s flourishing at university.
My daughter, diagnosed with Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) at 15, has got the support she needed at school. She now has a better understanding of her unique thought processes, and learning to advocate for herself has been empowering.
My youngest son was diagnosed with ASC at 10 and has always struggled with anxiety. We've made the necessary adjustments at home and worked hard to secure the right support for him at school. He’s now managing much better.
Our family has lived in a constant cycle of pause and reset, adapting to each child's needs as they arise. I’m always learning and evolving, and I remain hopeful that as neurodiversity gains acceptance, children will receive the understanding and support they truly deserve.
